Marietta Man Convicted Of Sex Act on OU Campus

A Marietta man was sentenced to a year in prison for a sex crime prosecutors say was committed on Ohio University’s main campus.
Devon C. Bowling, 20, was sentenced by Athens County Common Pleas Court Judge George McCarthy on Monday of one count of gross sexual imposition.
According to a release by the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, Bowling and the victim were both students at the time of the incident.
“Bowling and the victim knew each other prior to the incident in which Bowling was called as a friend to help,” the release stated.
The man was accused of making “forceful sexual contact” without the victim’s consent, according to the prosecutor’s office.
After he is released from prison, Bowling will be subject to five years of probation, and will be classified as a Tier I sex offender, which mean he will be required to verify his address with law enforcement every year for 15 years.
