Hocking College Begins First Phases Of Presidential Search
< < Back to hocking-college-begins-first-phases-presidential-searchIn a set of memos sent to the Hocking College Community on Wednesday, the Board of Trustees detailed its plan for selecting the next president of the college.
The college is working to form a Presidential Search Advisory and Screening Committee which will assist in the selection of the next Hocking College president.
The committee will be made up of 18 individuals. Trustee Tom Johnson stated at Monday's Board meeting that the committee will be comprised of two student representatives, two faculty representatives, six county representatives (two each from Athens, Hocking and Perry counties), one administrator, one support staff representative, one foundation board member, one bargaining unit representative, one regional economic development district representative, one representative from the Governor's Office of Appalachia, one Board of Regents member and one Ohio University member.
"The Presidential Search Advisory and Screening Committee (PSASC) will be a working committee, and it will require the full and complete attention of each member," read a portion of the memo from Johnson and Chairman of the Board Andrew Stone. "We expect the time commitment to include a half-day orientation meeting, one day meeting to select semi-finalists and up to two days for interviews. There is also a time commitment to review and evaluate application materials."
Nominations for the PSASC are being accepted through Nov. 21. Additional information about the presidential search is to be posted on the college website in the near future according to the memo.
In addition to the PSASC, the Hocking College Community is being asked to help establish a "Presidential Profile" of what the next president should bring to the college.
A survey has been set up through survey monkey to allow for faculty, staff and students to respond to two questions — what should be the goals and priorities of Hocking College and what should be the ideal characteristics we seek in the new president of Hocking College. After responses are compiled, a college-wide public forum will be held to provide additional feedback.
