Josie Ousley And the Lady Vikings Make Quick Work Of River Valley

The River Valley Lady Raiders had a nice run going. After going winless the entire season winless, the team won its regular season finale and the beat New Lexington in its first tournament game. Then, Vinton County said hello.
The Lady Vikings took down River Valley 72-26 at Logan High School on Wednesday to advance to the sectional final.
Vinton County had a halftime lead of 43-14 over River Valley, but did not jump out immediately. With 3:18 left in the first quarter, the Lady Vikings led just 11-10. That lead grew to 19-13 at the end of the first quarter and did not stop.
A new rule in the Ohio High School Athletic Association this season is a running clock for basketball. If the point differential gets to 35 points or more, the clock will then only stop for timeouts and injuries. The lead must dip below 30 points for the running clock to stop fully.
Vinton County put the running clock on River Valley just a few minutes into the second half. The lead did not go low enough to stop the running making for a quick half.
The Lady Vikings relaxed the starters for most of the second half and got the bench in. Vinton County still outscored the Lady Raiders 29-12 in the second half.
Josie Ousley led Vinton County with 23 points and Darian Radabaugh had 15 points after nailing five three-pointers. Cassie Bentley had 13 points on the night she scored her 1,000 career point.
River Valley ended its year with a 2-21 record. Vinton County advanced to see the winner of Gallia Academy and Fairfield Union on Saturday at Logan.
