Effort Is Launched To Bring DNC To Columbus
< < Back to effort-launched-bring-dnc-columbusThis week, the Columbus 2016 host committee launched a grassroots online campaign urging supporters to call upon the DNC decision makers and influencers to choose Columbus for the 2016 Democratic Convention.
In the wake of Columbus making it into the final 3 cities left in the DNC bidding process, the Columbus 2016 host committee is turning to members of the community, businesses, elected officials and organizations to share their excitement and support of bringing the convention to Columbus.
According to a press release, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Ohio Governor John Kasich, Columbus Councilman Zach Klein, Representative Michael Stinziano, Experience Columbus, The Columbus Chamber, The Franklin County Young Democrats, the Ohio Young Democrats and countless Columbus residents are lobbying to host the 2016 DNC delegates.
The website, bringitcolumbus.com, asks Ohioans to share why having the DNC Convention in Columbus is the best choice, and will be critical to the success of Democrats nationally in 2016. The site lists 3 steps that Ohioans can take to have an impact on the convention selection process.
Columbus 2016 spokeswoman Meredith Tucker said, “We are honored and excited to be in the final running to host the 2016 DNC convention. Now is our chance to prove why Columbus is the best choice. As we move through the negotiation process with the DNC, this huge show of support from the Columbus community highlights the energy and excitement that simply sets our city apart.”
The other cities in the running as host sites are New York City and Philadelphia.
