News outlets report 38-year-old Morgan Vandergriff was arrested Wednesday in the death of 38-year-old John Maynard.
Putnam County Sheriff Scott Deweese says a school bus was turning around at the end of the road and flashed its lights to warn drivers not to pass. Deweese says Vandergriff didn’t stop for the signal. Maynard was sitting on his all-terrain vehicle in his driveway and got off, trying to slow Maynard down by waving his hands.
According to the criminal complaint, Vandergriff ran off the side of the road and struck Maynard, killing him. Deweese says Maynard was pushed 22 feet from where he was standing.
