Local Dispensary Licenses Awarded for Medical Marijuana

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio says medical marijuana won’t be available for sale by the Sept. 8 deadline.
Department of Commerce policy adviser Mark Hamlin said Tuesday that several cultivators have experienced inspection delays that make it impossible to have product on the shelves on the date set by Ohio’s 2016 medical marijuana law.
Hamlin said the state worked aggressively to meet the deadline and is disappointed on behalf of patients at the delay. He says the state is not technically out of compliance with the law. He said it called for having the program itself in place by Sept. 8.
Hamlin couldn’t say exactly when sales will begin, other than as soon as possible.
Ohio has licensed 25 large and small growers and on Monday awarded 56 dispensary licenses.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio has licensed 56 locations that can sell medical marijuana once it becomes legal this fall.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy on Monday awarded those provisional dispensary licenses that give the stores six months to meet state operation requirements. A total of 376 applications were received.
The executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association of Ohio, Thomas Rosenberger, says the board has ended months of speculation about where patients will be able to get medical marijuana.
Locally, licenses were awarded for dispensaries in Athens, Jackson, Chillicothe, Newark, Logan, Carol, Coshocton, and Marietta.
Ohio’s 2016 medical marijuana law says the program must begin Sept. 8.
Also Monday, the board launched a toll-free medical marijuana help-line for patients, caregivers and health professionals.
