UPDATE: New Evidence In Fatal Athens Hit-And-Run
< < Back to new_evidence_in_fatal_hit_and_runUPDATE: (6/29 12:00 p.m.) Authorities are analyzing a vehicle they suspect was used in a fatal hit-and-run for evidence.
A truck was towed from the parking lot of the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center by police and taken to a lab to search for evidence, according to a lieutenant from the Athens post of the State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the suspected vehicle is not being identified at this time and no charges have been filed, pending the analysis.

UPDATE: (3:46 p.m.) Tad Albano has died from his injuries shortly after 2:00 p.m. Facebook posts announcing his death and expressing condolences were posted Tuesday afternoon. Early Saturday morning Albano reportedly had a seizure and fell on W. Carpenter Street in Athens. He was hit by a truck while on the ground. Authorities are still looking for the driver of that vehicle.
ATHENS – Authorities are searching for the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian early Saturday morning, leaving them with life-threatening injuries.
Tad T. Albano, 47, of Albany, Ohio was struck on W. Carpenter Street near N. Lancaster Street in Athens while attempting to cross the road at around 2:30 a.m., according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Witnesses reported that an early 2000 model Chevrolet Silverado pick-up was traveling westbound when it struck Albano as he was lying in the roadway.
Albano was transported by Athens County EMS to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. And then later to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. There is no update on Albano’s condition at this time.
The pick-up was described as having a red cab and bed with a black tailgate. Witnesses said that the truck looked rusted and beat up.
Troopers from the Athens Post of the State Highway Patrol are assisting the Athens Police Department in the investigation.
