July 27th – Coolville Hot Club
It’s a custom among bands inspired by the 1930s “gypsy jazz” of Django Reinhardt’s Hot Club of France quintet to name themselves after the place they call home. Although Coolville is about 20 miles down the road from where they really do live, it sounds way cooler than “Hot Club of Athens.” They have been playing together since 2005. Their versions of Django originals, swing standards, and bossas are peppered with the influences that each of them bring, styles ranging from folk and rock to fiddle tunes and beyond. The band is made up of: Emily Singer, vocals; Art Werger and Jeff Carr, guitars; Mike Sisson, bass; and Mark Burhans, violin.
Doors open at 5:30pm, a cash bar and food by Mauvette will be available.
