Crooksville, Warren Searching For Much Needed Win

It doesn’t take much to turn a season around. Sometimes, all it takes is a single win.
Getting that first win of the year can make all the hardship feel worth it. It can get players to buy in, to push through the losses they’ve already experienced just for a chance to win again.
Last week, Crooksville (1-4, 1-2 MVL) was able to battle back from an early 14-0 deficit to defeat Morgan 22-14 in a game that was delayed by lightning for nearly 90 minutes.
This week, Warren (0-5) has the same chance to pull out their first victory of the season.
The first month of the season was a forgettable one for both the Ceramics and the Warriors. Neither team had a game that was closer than three possessions in their first four games, with Crooksville being outscored by an average of 34.6 points and Warren being beaten by 37.5 points on average.
The Raiders came close to getting into the win column last week, but ended up falling to Union Local 19-13 despite the game being tied at seven late in the third quarter.
Scoring has been an issue for both teams in their first five games.
Crooksville has only managed 29 total points this season and 22 of those came just last week. The Ceramics were shut out three consecutive games by Philo, Maysville, and Tri-Valley while also giving up a total of 117-points in that span.
Warren, at least on the surface, wouldn’t appear to have the same problem. The Warriors were able to put up 26-points on Athens and 21 on Marietta, but a deeper dive into the box score reveals that a majority of those points were scored late in the game with the outcome decided.
However, the season is far from over for both of these teams.
Maybe this week could be the win that turns the Ceramics’ or Warriors’ season for the better.
