Ohio improves to 11-0 with win at American

On Saturday, both Ohio and American looked to keep win streaks alive. The Bobcats were looking to keep a ten-game winning streak alive, while American looked to extend a 23-game home winning streak. Ohio (11-0) made sure that they would not lose their first game of the season and defeated American (4-7), 77-67.
Ohio held a 29-17 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to Dominique Doseck’s 16 points. Doseck was an impressive four-for-four from three-point range and six-of-seven from the field. Gabby Burris added nine points.
The Bobcats were outscored by American by a single point in the second quarter and went to the locker room with a 42-31 halftime lead. Doseck had 20 points at the half and Burris scored 14 points. As a team, Ohio shot 47.1 percent from the field and were seven-of-15 from beyond the arc.
CeCe Hooks paced the Bobcats in the third quarter with 11 points. Additionally, Hooks had four steals in the quarter. Ohio led American 65-46 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, American outscored Ohio 21-12 and cut the lead down to ten points with 1:46 left, but that was as close as the Eagles got.
Doseck finished the game with 27 points – tying a career high. Burris had a double-double – she scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Hooks finished with 11 points and seven steals. As a team, Ohio shot 48.3 percent from the field and was 11-of-25 from three-point range. Ohio forced 24 turnovers and scored 32 points off turnovers.
Ohio is the only unbeaten MAC team heading into conference play and is one of nine teams in the nation without a loss.
The Bobcats start conference play on Saturday when they travel to Buffalo. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Ohio returns to the Convocation Center on January 9th when they host Central Michigan.
