NEW CARLISLE, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a small plane has crashed near an airport in Ohio, injuring the pilot and two passengers.
Bethel Township Fire Chief Jacob King says the plane crashed Sunday in the area of a plant nursery shortly after leaving the Andy Barnhart Memorial Airport in New Carlisle. The State Highway Patrol says the three people on board were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
A patrol release says the 1958 Cessna model 172 that crashed shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Studebaker Nurseries property was operated by Nathan McBride, of New Carlisle.
No one on the ground was injured.
The patrol says engine failure is suspected as the possible cause of the crash in western Ohio. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
