UpBEAT Food for Thought Program: History and stories from Homecoming Farm
October 1, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeUpBEAT Food for Thought Program provides free health education workshops and presentations for adults ages 55 and older. The Food for Thought Program continues to meet virtually.
A once overworked and neglected land, Homecoming Farm now is a reclaimed lush land for sustainably grown produce and maple syrup production. The farm was in the beginning stages of development in 2010, under the hands of John Wood. Join us virtually on Thursday, October 1 at 10-11 a.m. for stories shared by John. In his presentation, expect to learn more about the history and sustainable practices of Homecoming Farm. John will also share about the process of producing maple syrup.
John Wood is an Amesville, Ohio native. In addition to Homecoming Farm, John has worked on organic farms in Ohio, Florida and New Zealand. He holds a degree in Environmental Education and Outdoor Leadership Studies from Warren Wilson College. John has worked as a wilderness educator and guide in North Carolina, Utah, Canada and the Florida Everglades. When he’s not farming, you can find him in his woodshop, turning bowls on the lathe or building furniture from local sustainably harvested wood.
