UpBEAT Food for Thought Program provides free health education workshops and presentations for adults ages 55 and older.  The Food for Thought Program continues to meet virtually.

As we age, our risk for vitamin D deficiency increases. We often think of our bone health in relation to vitamin D, although we should broaden this thinking to include the relation of low vitamin D to chronic disease states. Douglas Woo, MD, will share information on the current research on vitamin D, including an overview of the functions of it in our bodies and how we can better achieve meeting our vitamin D needs. Join us virtually, by computer or phone on Thursday, October 15 at 10-11 a.m., to learn with us.

Dr. Woo received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin where he also completed his internship and neurology residency. Dr. Woo then completed his multiple sclerosis fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He later moved back to Milwaukee where he was on faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin before moving to Ohio in 2012 practicing as a community neurologist. In the spring of 2020, Dr. Woo received the Psychiatry Teacher of the Year recognition from OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital’s Department of Medical Education, demonstrating his dedication to his profession.
