< < Back to ohio-softball-bobcats-swept-at-tennessee-to-start-2021-seasonThe Ohio Bobcats softball team finally got to take the field again after almost a year of absence, aside from a four-inning rained out game.
The Bobcats took on Tennessee in a double header and ultimately struggled to keep the Vols from scoring.
The Vols took the first game 7-1 after a hitting bout. As a whole they hit four home runs. Kiki Milloy kicked it off in the bottom of the second with her third homerun of the season followed right after with a Cailin Hannon bomb. Amanda Ayala added a two-run homerun to get a quick 4-0 lead. Chelsea Seggern capped off the homerun party with her very first of the season.
Ohio struggled with stranding players on bases throughout the whole day.
In the second game, the Bobcats jumped out and scored a run to which Tennessee answered with three in the next inning. The Vols were able to pull two more home runs out of this game.
Allie Englant and Annalia Paoli were the only two to reach home for the Bobcats as the Vols pressed on the gas and took game two, 11-2. The game only lasted five innings as the Volunteers were able to claim a mercy rule.
The Bobcats didn’t struggle on the defensive side as they recorded zero errors. Tennessee just was able to jump on the ball with every chance they got. They recorded 14 hits between two pitchers while Ohio only had one strike out.
Tennessee is a historically good program and the Bobcats have just got to play their first real game while the Vols have already completed eight.
The squad has some rust to knock but they will surely find their groove before MAC play starts, Next up, Ohio is traveling south again to take on Eastern Carolina Saturday, Feb. 27, in a double-header.
