WOUB’s Learning Lab Recognizes Teacher Appreciation Week 2021
< < Back to ?p=266802ATHENS, OH – WOUB Public Media’s Learning Lab knows how important teachers are and the tireless work they have done during this unpredictable year. To mark Teacher Appreciation Week 2021, Educational Services Manager Deborah Brewer delivered lunch totes with treats for all the teachers in the Alexander Local School District in Albany.
“We have been working with teachers throughout our region during the pandemic, providing PBS Kids programming and resources to help them reach every student. With the internet connectivity challenges our region faces, it has been tough,” said Brewer. “The constant changes due to remote learning and blended instruction has been a challenge for all teachers. We just wanted to take a moment and recognize their effort.”
Brewer also hung posters and balloons to make a display in honor of teachers in the district. Teacher Appreciation Week is held every year during the first week of May, and each year WOUB Learning Lab honors one school in our region. Brewer says this year it was especially important to make an effort to say thank you to teachers to show them that we appreciate the work they’ve done for students and families during the pandemic.
“The creativity and tenacity of teachers during this pandemic has been amazing,” Brewer said. “They’ve had to completely change the way they taught their students, while learning new technology. This small token is the least we could do to say, “Thank you!’”
