107 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Athens County for Feb. 12-14

ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 14,027 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 107 additional cases were reported for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The Ohio Department of Health confirmed numbers on Feb. 14, 2022.

According to ODH data, the cases involved 42 people 20-29, 29 people 0-19, 10 people 30-39, six people 40-49, six people 50-59, six people 60-69, five people 80+ and three people 70-79.

There are 1,085 known active cases in the county as of Monday and 12,826 recovered cases, according to ODH.

A total of 52.99% of the county has started the vaccination process and 49.39% has completed it, according to ODH. There have also been 16,692 additional doses administered.

Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.

Monday at 2 p.m., the Ohio Department of Health announced 1,312 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide were reported in the last 24 hours. There were also 99 hospitalizations and 22 ICU admissions within the same time period.

ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
