Local DJs And Muscians Team Up To Help Save Athens County Music In The Schools Program
< < Back to local-djs-and-muscians-team-help-save-athens-county-music-schools-programAthens area DJs and musicians will be lending their talents for a younger generation of musical artists.
Tonight, groups will perform at Jackie O's Pub and Brewery to raise money to help Athens County Music in the Schools program.
Organizer Kieran Manzi says the program is in danger of ending. The Music in the Schools program helps children in Athens learn how to play musical instruments with workshops that have been taught by local and nationally known musicians.
Manzi says the idea for the event came after watching WOUB News. "We were sitting around one day and we happened to catch Newswatch on WOUB and we saw the Music in the Schools Program Founder Mike Doughty, he was on there saying that they needed help from anyone who could spare it to help save the program," says Manzi. "I got to talking with Arthur and Joe, the two DJs of bustedBASS and we were like you know what, we want to help this guy out, we want to help his program to keep it going."
The concert will be headlined by bustedBASS with opening acts by Station Break Blues Band, Brothertiger, and DJ Barticus.
The show will begin at 10pm. More information is available on the group's Facebook page.
