Bloom-Carroll ends Tri-Valley’s season in battle between conference heavyweights
< < Back toDRESDEN, Ohio (WOUB) – It was a beautiful Friday night for playoff football and a huge game between the Bloom Carroll Bulldogs (11-1) and Tri-Valley Scotties (9-3). Both crowds came into the matchup rowdy and ready to take home the hardware, but Bloom Carroll ended up on top 20-7 with a dominant performance.
Right off the bat, a Bulldog interception led to a scoring drive that ended with a Chase Plantz run into the end zone for the early 7-0 lead.
While the Bulldogs attempted to add another touchdown to their lead in their next possession, they settled for a 29-yard field goal by Trenton McKee to expand their lead to 10.
Halfway through the second quarter Bloom Carroll gets another huge interception as Jett Jones picks a Max Lyall pass-off in the end zone.
It came down to a matter of whether the Tri-Valley defense could minimize Bloom Carroll’s scoring. The Scotties haven’t allowed more than 21 points since week two of the season, while the Bulldogs have not scored less than 28 since that time, including 40 plus points in seven games this season.
Taking the field after the half, the action didn’t start happening until less than a minute in the third quarter. The Bulldogs gained their third interception of the night thanks to Dylan Armentrout from Max Lyall. The team gets another field goal on the next drive.
Revenge was on the mind of Tri-Valley, with few minutes to spare coming down to the fourth quarter. Jake Slaboden intercepts a pass from Ethan Thanthanavong to give the Scottie’s the ball back. The Scotties found the scoreboard as Drake Durst ran 10 yards into the end zone to break their scoreless streak 20-7.
It was too late for the Scotties to play catch-up as the defensive-heavy Bulldog team restricted the Scotties from making offensive plays. Potential Gridiron Player of the Year candidate Andrew Marshall rushed 101 yards, scoring a touchdown early on by diving over, barely making it to the end zone.
While the season has come to an end for Tri-Valley, Bloom Carroll moves on in the playoff season, taking on Sheridan.
