WATERFORD, Ohio (WOUB) The Trimble Tomcats (4-4) traveled to Wildcat Stadium to face off with the Waterford Wildcats (6-3) in the second to last matchup of the regular season. The game started off slow, neither team was able to move on offense. Both the Tomcats and Wildcats failed to capitalize off of their first drives.

With just over five minutes left in the first quarter, Trimble Quarterback Brandon Burdette would take off on a designed run for a 50-yard touchdown. Failing the 2-point conversion, the Tomcats would take an early 6-0 lead. Burdette would lead the Tomcat run game with 67 yards, with the offense totaling 139 yards on the ground over the course of the night.

More back and forth play between the Tomcats and Wildcats, trading punts and turnovers off of downs. The Wildcats offense would finally find paydirt with just three minutes left in the half as freshman Quarterback Hayden Jones would find Running Back Colten Jones in the open field.

Jones would barrel his way into the endzone, with the good point after, Waterford would take the 6-7 lead into the end of the half.

The third quarter would be the Waterford Defense’s opportunity to shine. The Wildcats would hold the Tomcats down in the third, not allowing any points. On the offensive side of the ball, it would be the Hayden Jones show. Jones would once again take off on a Quarterback Draw, allowing for Jones to score on a long run and extend the Wildcat lead once more.

With another good point after, the Wildcats would hold onto their 14-6 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Tomcats would start the final quarter of play with excellent field position, but unfortunately fell just short of the goal line. The Wildcats would take over deep in their own territory, and on just the second play of the drive the Tomcats would tackle Hayden Jones in their own endzone to force a safety, and give the Tomcats the chance to come back as the score would be 14-8 going into the final minutes of play.

The Wildcats would kick off, only leading by 6, and with a strong return the Tomcats would take over on the Wildcat 35-yard line.

The Tomcats would find their way close to the endzone, the Tomcats would find themselves on a 4th down and goal with just two minutes left. With only 5 yards to go, Brandon Burdette would throw to Max Frank, Burdette would complete the pass to Frank, but Frank would fall just short of the goal line with three wildcat defenders on his back.

Waterford would take over on their own 1-yard line, killing the clock for the final minutes, the Waterford Wildcats would take the win 14-8 over the Trimble Tomcats.
