Culture & Heritage Festival

FreeOhio University Southern in Ironton is gearing up to host its annual Culture and Heritage Festival, serving as a prelude to the Juneteenth holiday, with a lineup of events aiming to celebrate the diverse history and cultures of the Appalachian region.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 15, the festival will provide a day filled with entertainment, education, and community engagement. The event holds significance in bringing together the community to commemorate the history and cultural tapestry of the region.
The festival, which is free and open to the public thanks to the Appalachian Freedom Heritage Tourism Initiative, invites attendees of all ages to partake in a wide array of activities. From live music performances by local artists such as Holly Forbes, Lady D, and 4YLP (formerly Honey Dipped), to captivating showcases by the Bi-Okoto Drum and Dance Theater, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Moreover, the festival serves as a platform for reflection on the region’s historical journey. It aims to foster a sense of belonging and community among attendees, encouraging connections, shared experiences, and relationship-building.
In addition to the festivities, interested vendors and organization representatives have the opportunity to host information booths at the event.
