Men’s Basketball: Cooper Not A Cousy Award Finalist

The 2012 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award finalists list was recently trimmed down from 20 to 11. The Cousy Award is given to the top point guard in the nation, but it will not be going to Ohio's point guard D.J. Cooper.
Cooper was not a part of the final 11 when the names were announced on Feb. 2.
The junior point guard has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.00, which is 76th-best in the country. His 5.6 assists per game is the 35th highest in the nation, and he also ranks 12th nationally with 2.4 steals per contest.
Cooper has not been scoring like he was in the beginning of the season. In his last three games, number five scored just six, four and nine points, dropping his average to 13.3 points per game.
Of the 11 finalists, five were point guards from mid-major schools, while the other six hail from the power conferences.
