The Bulldogs bite first against the Braves

CARROLL, Ohio (WOUB) – The Logan Elm Braves went on the road to play the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs. Logan Elm would win the coin toss and chose to take the ball first. The Braves’ first offensive drive almost ended with an interception by the Bulldogs, forcing Logan Elm to punt.
Bloom-Carroll had the ball were also forced to punt it away. To begin their second drive, Braves quarterback #12 Aaron Walters connected with his target #18 Ne’Miah Waugh for a good pickup, setting up for running back #23 Michael Bock to pick up a first down from the 36 yard line.
Walters then looks for #8 Justin Markum and was broken up by the Bulldogs’ #29 Beau Sherman, another Logan Elm punt.
Bulldogs were forced yet again to punt, but Logan Elm’s returner #7 Cameron Drake fumbled and it was recovered by #6 Matthew Cline giving Bloom-Carroll the ball on the 16 yard line.
Quarterback #10 Ethan Thanthanavong ran it into the endzone but it got called back for holding. At the 25 yard line, Thanthanavong connected with #85 Michael Stevenson getting the ball to the 8 yard line. With 1:22 on the clock, Thanthanavong hit #7 Jude Blair to get the score putting the Bulldogs up 7-0.
Going into the second quarter, Logan Elm would have the ball and failed to score again because Aaron Walters’ pass was picked off. Bastien Ovalle ran it back by picking off Walters again and took it all the way to the 12 yard line with 10:26 left in the quarter. Bloom-Carroll didn’t waste time. 3rd and 12 with the ball on the 15 yard line, Ethan Thanthanavong ran his way into the endzone again to help bring the Bulldogs’ lead to 14-0 with 9:27 left in the quarter.
On their 4th drive, Walters’ pass was caught by Pad Newman for a 12 yards. Despite that the Braves yet again called out the punt team.
Bloom-Carroll’s 5th drive would be capped off by a 14 yard run by Beau Sherman for the touchdown, bringing the Bulldogs’ lead to 21-0 with 5:50 left in the quarter.
For Logan Elm’s 5th drive, Michael Bock hungry for a score managed to scrape up a 28 yard rushing gain for a first down. With the ball on the 10 yard line Bloom-Carroll called a timeout, then on 4th and 5 Walters looked to pass it to #1 Josua Hunter but it fell incomplete to end the half with the Braves scoreless.
Bloom-Carroll would manage to keep a hold of their lead and added on some, taking the home victory with a score of 41-14.
