Eagles soar to victory in a homecoming showdown against Tomcats
< < Back toREEDSVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Eastern Eagles hosted the Trimble Tomcats for their homecoming game. The contest ended in a 41-20 Eastern win, fueled by a strong second half.
Trimble won the toss and deferred the opening kickoff to the Eagles. All it took was two plays for Tyler Hill to find the endzone as he took his first carry 80 yards for the touchdown.
The Tomcats had a rough first drive, leading to a punt. The Eagles would overcome a fourth and inches on their second drive and they would reach the endzone with Tyler Hills second score, this time, from 25 yards out.
Trimble could not get anything going, allowing for an already hot Hill to find the endzone once again. Tyler Hill would score his third touchdown of the first quarter. He made an amazing play, keeping his balance enroute to a 44-yard score.
At the end of the first quarter the Eagles were up 21-0.
The Tomcats would find their footing in the second quarter, however. They would pick off Ethan Edwards and swing momentum with a touchdown and two-point conversion from Owen Sikorski.
Trimble would execute a perfect two-minute drive to get into scoring position before halftime. The Tomcats would bring the game within a score as Owen Sikorski would score his second touchdown, although they failed the following two-point conversion attempt.
Going into halftime Trimble had all the momentum and was going to receive the ball when play resumed. They scored coming out of half and brought the game within one point, but on their homecoming night; the Eagles were determined to come away with a win.
The Eagles held the Tomcats scoreless for the rest of the game, while adding on an additional 20 points to their lead and winning 41-20.
Eastern looks to stack another conference win next week when they face the Belpre Golden Eagle. Trimble looks to get back in the win column as they host the Waterford Wildcats.
