County Commissioner Candidate Jon Rose says he wants to make living in Athens more affordable
< < Back toATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – During his time as an EMS medic, Jon Rose says his main goal was to help people.
It’s something he wants to continue as county commissioner.
Jon Rose claims as it stands right now, the people of Athens are not receiving the help they deserve.
“People need help. People want jobs. People just want to feel secure,” Rose said. “Things just have to change. They must change. And it’s just not getting done. So, we’re going to change it.”
According to Rose, high taxes and low wages are causing people to leave the county.
“If things aren’t right, the county is losing, you know, smart, hardworking individuals,” Rose claims. “And it’s based on pay. You can’t afford to live here and work here.”
If elected, Rose says he’ll focus on lowering taxes.
And based on his experience as a medic, he would take a more hands-off approach to overseeing the agency he used to work for.
“We need to actually let them run the agency the way that they see fit and stop having the commissioners’ hands in everything,” Rose said.
Rose says the main target of his campaign has always been helping his neighbors to achieve a better standard of living.
“I love Athens County. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t still be here,” Rose said. “I wouldn’t get through all of this and put a bullseye on my back.”
