TVC-Ohio Standings: Standings stay put before conference play resumes

The Athens girls also faced a tough test, falling to the Marietta girls. River Valley girls posted another impressive week, extending their winning streak to six games. Vinton County girls followed suit, finishing an impressive week with a win over Jackson.
TVC-Ohio Boys’ Standings
1.Meigs Marauders | 9-0 (Conf. 3-0)

The Meigs Marauders have maintained their undefeated record with just one matchup this past week. They played close with the Marietta Tigers on Friday at home, and came out on top 46-45. According to River Cities Tribune & Register, Junior Carson Davis shined with 20 points, followed by Sophomore Reed Brinager with 12.
The Marauders will look to extend their win-streak on Tuesday at home versus in-conference opponent River Valley and at Eastern on Thursday.
2. Vinton County Vikings | 4-5 (Conf. 3-1)

With only one game last week, Vinton County fell to Jackson on Saturday, 60-33. It hasn’t been the greatest stretch for the Vikings as of late, as they’ve dropped four of their last five games to fall below .500 on the season. Still sitting second in the Ohio, Vinton County has the chance to stay in the conference title race with a home game against Nelsonville-York on Tuesday. In addition, the Vikings will continue their nonconference slate Saturday night at Zane Trace.
T3. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 6-3 (Conf. 2-1)

The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes took a 60-42 loss to the New Lexington Panthers this week, making that two losses in a row against non-conference opponents.
The Buckeyes look to redeem themselves as they enter the new year against conference opponent and former TVC-Ohio champions, the Vinton County Vikings.
T3. Athens Bulldogs | 5-4 (Conf. 2-1)

The Athens Bulldogs haven’t seen the hardwood this week and remain tied for third in the TVC-Ohio standings.
Their next game will be on Tuesday, where they will travel to Wellston to face off with the Golden Rockets. Wellston currently shares a third-place spot with the Bulldogs in the conference, and the outcome of Tuesday’s matchup will shift the standings.
T3. Wellston Golden Rockets | 2-7 (Conf. 2-1)

The Wellston Golden Rockets took a tough loss this week falling 53-48 to Federal Hocking adding to a now three-game losing streak for the Golden Rockets as they remain tied for third.
The Wellston boys will look to regroup and break the bad luck as they face two in-conference opponents this week welcoming Athens at home on Tuesday and Trimble at home on Friday, January 10.
T7. Alexander Spartans | 2-8 (Conf. 0-4)

Alexander’s lone game of the week came against Huntington on Saturday, and they fell, 57-53.
The Spartans are looking ahead to Jackson and Federal Hocking next week. Their next in-conference contest will be on Tuesday Jan. 14 against River Valley. Mason Morris, Klaxton Hawk, and Jace Cooper will continue to be key contributors for the Spartans.
T7. River Valley Raiders | 2-10 (Conf. 0-4)

The River Valley Raiders suffered two losses this past week, falling 65-44 against Eastern and 88-74 against Symmes Valley keeping the Raiders at the bottom of the conference.
Looking ahead to the coming week the Raiders will play one game on Tuesday against TVC-Ohio powerhouse the Meigs Marauders. River Valley will look to pull a huge upset over the Marauders and gain momentum heading into the rest of conference play.
TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings
1.Athens Bulldogs | 8-2 (Conf. 4-0)

The Athens Lady Bulldogs remain atop the TVC-Ohio standings but fell to the Marietta Tigers this week with a final score of 71-54. Asa Holcombe and Ella Chapman led the team in that matchup with 12 points each.
On Monday, the Bulldogs will shift their focus back to the TVC-Ohio when they host the Vinton County Vikings at home.
2.Alexander Spartans | 6-4 (Conf. 3-1)

Alexander got the week started with a 47-45 victory over South Gallia, thanks to a Kaylee Hudnall buzzer-beater. The Spartans then lost to Belpre and Huntington on Thursday and Saturday.
Despite the losses, the Spartans will resume conference play in second place with a 6-4 record on the year so far. This week, they will take on Nelsonville-York and Meigs before heading to Trimble on Saturday for the final game of the week.
3.River Valley Raiders | 9-4 (Conf. 3-2)

River Valley had a packed schedule this past week with three big games on the slate and they came away with all three. The Raiders dominated 56-27 against Eastern, 55-49 against Symmes Valley and 56-32 against Southern.
These wins put the Raiders on a hot six game winning streak as they head into this week, where they will start play immediately tomorrow against in-conference opponent Wellston, and then welcome Hunnington at home on Thursday, January 9.
4. Vinton County Vikings | 9-4 (Conf. 2-2)

The Lady Vikings played three games last week and came out on top in all three, taking down Zane Trace, Northwest, and Jackson, respectively. They won in convincing fashion as well, with the closest margin being a whopping 16 points. The conference record might not be where Vinton County wants it to be right now, but sitting at 7-2 in nonconference play is a major win for a young team led by head coach Brett Jones.
The Lady Vikings will turn their attention back to TVC-Ohio play this week, playing at Athens on Monday night and host Wellston on Wednesday evening.
T4. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 3-6 (Conf. 2-2)

The Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes pick up their second loss in a row after falling against Federal Hocking, 70-29. This is the Lady Buckeyes largest loss of the season.
The girls look to put an end to their losing streak against their first opponent of the new year at Alexander on Tuesday. They then host Athens on Thursday. This week will be a test for the Lady Buckeyes, as both of their opponents are at the top of the conference.
6.Wellston Golden Rockets | 4-6 (Conf. 1-3)

The Wellston Golden Rockets took another loss last Friday when they took on West Virginia’s Wahama High School who put up a dominating performance against the Golden Rockets winning 45-27.
This puts Wellston on a two-game losing streak as they head into two conference matchups this week and look to get momentum going. The Golden Rockets will welcome River Valley tomorrow to take on the Raiders, who enter this week on a six-game winning streak. The Golden Rockets will then head to McAuthur on Thursday, January 9 to take on the Vinton County Vikings.
7.Meigs Marauders| 0-9 (Conf. 0-5)

The Lady Marauders continued to seek success with one matchup this week after the holidays. They took a trip to Point Pleasant on Thursday, where they lost 52-19.
Meigs looks to win their first game of the season with a game at Trimble on Monday and one at home against Alexander on Wednesday.
