Fort Frye
The Fort Frye Cadets come into this year with yet another winning season under their belts. Fort Frye ended last season 7-3 on the regular season, 2-1 in conference, and 9-4 overall. Making this head coach Eric Huck’s thirteenth winning season in a row.
However, unlike the previous two years since the TSL began, the Cadets lost the TSL title to Warren this year. Fort Frye lost seniors Clayton Miller and Braxton Ross, two huge assets to Huck’s lineup, to graduation this year. But after 13 winning seasons straight, this team has no intention of slowing down.
Warren
Warren is just one of the three TSL teams that will have a new look at the helm this year. After head coach Jimmy Peyton resigned in the offseason, assistant coach Jason Gandee is taking the reins and looks to build on Warren’s 7-3 record from last season. This was the Warriors’ first winning season and playoff appearance since 2021. But even more than that, the Warriors took home the TSL crown this year, beating defending champions Fort Frye outright.
The Warriors retain a lot of their talent from last year’s squad, and with the momentum from a winning season on their minds, this team has all the potential to be dangerous.
Point Pleasant
Point Pleasant also finds themselves with a new head coach this year. Veteran head coach David Darts stepped down this past offseason after leading Point Pleasant for 18 seasons. James Higginbotham, a former Point Pleasant player himself, now steps up to the task.
Point Pleasant went 4-6 overall last year and 1-2 in conference, saw the playoffs for the first time since 2021, and beat TSL champions Warren, 44-13.
Marietta
After grabbing their first winning season since 2002, the 6-4 Marietta Tigers look to build off this momentum with a brand-new leader. Mike Kupfner steps into his first head coaching role at Marietta this season.
Just like all of the TSL teams, the Tigers are hungry for the crown, and the race to it keeps getting tighter year after year.
