Zero Waste Survey To Be Sent Out

The Appalachia Ohio Zero Waste Initiative has announced it will be sending out more than 3,000 random surveys in Athens and Hocking Counties.
Initiative Coordinator Kyle O'Keefe says this is the beginning of a research project to find ways to improve recycling efforts in the region.
"This is the first step towards gathering baseline information about some of the needs, opportunities, challenges, that current members are having to recycle or reduce their waste," says O'Keefe.
O'Keefe says this will help them move closer towards their final goal of zero waste.
"The end result of all these activities is basically to create a comprehensive plan that can be supported by communities, has feasibilities backed by it, and can create long-term strategies for healthier communities and a stronger economy," says O'Keefe.
The Appalachia Ohio Zero Waste Initiative is coordinated by Rural Action in partnership with the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University.
