Deadline Extension Requested For Solid Waste Management Plan
< < Back to deadline-extension-requested-solid-waste-management-planThere is some sign of life today for the apparently dead Athens-Hocking Solid Waste Management Plan.
Logan Mayor Martin Irvine says City Council has asked him to find out if it's too late to reconsider their veto of the plan.
The deadline for approval or disapproval was yesterday.
Irvine says Hocking County Commissioner Clark Sheets had asked about reconsideration.
Sheets is also chairman of the Athens-Hocking Solid Waste District Board of Commisioners which had proposed the plan.
Mayor Irvine says council took no action on reconsideration Tuesday but did want him to ask the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency if they would extend the deadline.
If the five year management plan is not revived, the EPA is expected to develop one that local officials fear may be tougher and more expensive than the local one.
