OU English Professor Selected As Distinguished Professor
< < Back to ou-english-professor-selected-distinguished-professorAn Ohio University English professor has been chosen to receive a special distinction.
Professor Mark Halliday recently earned the title of Distinguished Professor.
The award is given to a chosen professor once a year who is nominated by a group of professors that previously received the award.
Halliday says the award comes with some nice privileges.
"The distinguished professors get to meet with the president twice a year and get an inside briefing on the university's situation and future. I get a term off for research next year. I also get to award a tuition-free fellowship to one undergraduate each year," says Halliday.
Halliday says he feels very humbled to have been chosen for this award.
"It's a great honor. It's a little embarrassing because I know there's plenty of other professors who are equally distinguished or have great achievements, but they only pick one a year and I got it this time," says Halliday.
Halliday's portrait will hang with his peers' outside the Faculty Commons on the third floor of Alden Library.
Halliday was a guest on WOUB's NewsWatch program last night.
