POMEROY, Ohio (WOUB) – The Meigs Marauders hosted the Westfall Mustangs in a first-round playoff game on Monday, and the crowd was there to prove it.

Blake Elster and Bryan Craig would get things started for the Mustangs, both with two-point baskets. Carson Davis would answer with three points himself, coming off free-throws after being fouled. This would start the scoring momentum for the Marauders, ending the first quarter with an 18-11 lead.

Going into the second quarter, Westfall would decide it’s their time to shine, fighting all the way back and taking the lead, 32-30. It would be Elster and Craig again helping out the Mustangs, ending with six and 10, respectively. Davis would end the half with 17, after a couple of big threes and some good assists.

Coming out of the half, Davis would have a big and-one opportunity, and he would take it for all its worth. He would add six more and end the quarter with 23 points. However, Westfall would add to their lead, thanks to Elster and Craig once more. They would end the quarter up 48-44.

The fourth quarter was massive for the Marauders, grabbing the lead and winning 64-54. Davis ended up with 31 points and 13 rebounds, scoring almost half of his team’s points. Griffin Hudson also added 13 points.

On the Mustangs side, Craig ended up with 20 points and eleven rebounds. Joe Wray had a big fourth quarter and ended the game with 16 points.

Meigs will go on to face Washington Court House in the Convo next Sunday at 7:15 p.m.
