Cosmetology Program Offers Hope To Female Cancer Patients
< < Back to cosmetology-program-offers-hope-female-cancer-patientsThe American Cancer Society is teaming up with the O'Bleness Health System to help women who are undergoing cancer treatment.
The program is called "Look Good… Feel Better" and is aimed at teaching cosmetology techniques to female cancer patients to help them to combat the appearance-related side effects of treatments.
Cosmetic kits and help from a trained cosmetologist are provided through the program.
Administrative Assistant in Medical Education Susan Kozak says that O'Bleness also adds their own touch to the program.
"We at O'Bleness, in our Oncology Suite, also have a wig boutique where we give hats, wigs and bandanas at no charge to patients within our service area," said Kozak.
Kozak says the goal of the program is to lift patient's spirits.
"Generally we've received comments such as 'I do feel so much better', 'It was so nice to share' 'It's so nice to know that I'm not the only one going through this and that other people have the same feelings'," said Kozak.
The program is held in O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and is free for those that register.
