Anothony Bishop shines as Portsmouth West continues to dominate

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Huntington Huntsmen hosted the Portsmouth West Senators this Friday, where the Senators would best the Huntsmen 28-7.
The game started full of intensity, as Junior McDonald would fumble the opening kickoff. West would take over on the 20-yard line and march towards the endzone before fumbling the ball themselves on the 1-yard line.
After the early madness to begin the game, both teams would take it slow. West’s Anthony Bishop would have a few big runs, but it wouldn’t be until halfway through the first quarter that he would find the endzone thanks to a 5-yard run. The Huntsmen would try to answer, but penalties would shut down multiple big plays through the air. A punt would send the ball in Senator hands, and the first quarter would end 7-0 in favor of West.
The second quarter would start very similar to the first. The Senators would fumble the ball twice on a drive, but they were able to recover it both times before ultimately turning the ball over. A few plays would go by, and Huntington would be on defense again. An under thrown pass would be tipped by McDonald to himself for a big interception. From there, McDonald would do it all himself, picking up big plays before catching a wide-open pass all the way to even up the score.
West would lean on Bishop again to take their lead back. Bishop continued to make big gains and would punch in his second touchdown of the game right before half, making it 14-7 at the break.
Coming out of the locker room the Senators felt energized and would put together a sustained drive after kickoff. It would be their lead man Bishop once again to build the lead to two scores. The Senators would hold onto their lead and take this one 28-7.
Huntington drops to 1-2 and will look to get back in the win column next week at Zane Trace, while Portsmouth West stays undefeated at 3-0 and will look to continue their dominance against Williamsburg.
