Conversations From Studio B: Canaanville First Friday features Starbrick Artists

CANAANVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Canaanville Arts Center (8773 Mine Road) will host a First Friday event featuring the Starbrick Artists on Oct. 2 from noon to 8 p.m. The one-day event will include an art market from noon to 5 p.m., followed by an opening reception and exhibition of larger works from 5 to 8 p.m., along with live music and wood-fired pizza throughout the day.
In this episode of Conversations From Studio B, Emily Votaw speaks with Canaanville Arts Center co-founder Nick Frank and Starbrick Artists Rene Olson and Laurie Vancouver about the event and the collaboration behind it. The guests discuss the history of the Starbrick Cooperative Gallery in Nelsonville and how its artists have continued working and exhibiting together since the gallery closed in 2021. They also discuss the development of the Canaanville Arts Center and efforts to create more opportunities for artists and arts programming in Southeast Ohio. The conversation looks at what the collaboration could mean for future First Friday events and other arts programming in the Athens area.
