Judge Orders Evaluation For Cambridge Man
< < Back to judge-orders-evaluation-cambridge-manIn a hearing held Wednesday, a Guernsey County judge ordered that a man accused of murdering his foster father be evaluated by the state.
The evaluation will determine his ability to maintain a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and his competency to stand trial.
Perry Buco, 22, is accused of killing his foster father, 47-year-old Chris Caples of Cambridge, on April 5 in his Beatty Avenue residence.
Officers found Caples' body more than 24 hours later, stuffed in a freezer.
A preliminary autopsy report ruled the cause of death as "blunt force injury to the head and multiple stab wounds to the left torso."
Buco has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder and a single count of aggravated robbery, robbery, theft, and grand theft in connection with the slaying of Caples.
Buco did not appear in court on Wednesday and is currently in a Columbus psychiatric hospital.
Judge David Ellwood ordered that the evaluation be returned in 30 days.
