Job And Family Services Money Available For Athens Residents
< < Back toThe Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is helping some Athens County residents with extra expenses due to the storm and power outage.
The agency has released a limited amount of funding for transportation costs, purchasing ice and buying coolers.
Those eligible may receive up to $100 and certain income guidelines apply.
Athens County residents interested in applying should call Athens County Job and Family Services to set up an appointment to determine if they're eligible.
Funding will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis.
Also, for the food assistance program, the state is granting Food Assistance recipients an extra benefit of 13 percent of their usual assistance amount to help pay for food they may have lost due to the power outage.
For an average Athens County household, this means an extra $36.
These benefits are loaded directly onto the recipient's card and no application is necessary.
