Regional Leaders Talk Economic Development In Marietta

Economic development leaders from around the region were to gather in Marietta this morning to meet with the new president of the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth.
That man is John Molinaro, and he is also Chief Executive Officer of APEG, which is the new regional economic development organization serving 25 counties in southeast Ohio.
"It is a really new design for economic development," he says.
"I've been working all over the country helping communities with economic development in rural areas and in small urban markets for the past seven years," says Molinaro, "and long before that working on the ground in a region, and this design – where you've got a private industry-lead group that is essentially the conduit for economic development funds then working through regional partnerships that are also industry-lead – is very unique, not something you see regularly in other parts of the country."
The Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth was created through funding from a JobsOhio Network grant.
