Tri-Valley’s experience sinks Licking Valley
< < Back to tri-valleys-experience-sinks-licking-valleyThe Tri-Valley Scotties opened their season with a particularly good start against the Licking Valley Panthers. The Scotties scored on their first two possessions and used a quick start for an impressive 29-14 win.
Quarterback Nathan Strock hit Trevor Krouskoupf early on for 32 yards, which was immediately capped by an Austin Jones 12-yard run for the Scotties’ first touchdown. Despite being pinned at their own five after a 51-yard Licking Valley punt, Strock was able to march his team down the field with a 1-yard finish by Jones to put them up 13-0.
The Panthers looked to have some momentum going in the second quarter, but that came to a hault after Collin Prouty’s sack of Licking Valley quarterback Grant Garber. The Scotties took advantage and responded with an 82-yard drive. Jones ripped through the defense on an impressive 20-yard run and Strock finished things off finding Krouskoupf for a 21-yard touchdown. With only two minutes left in the half Tri-Valley had a substantial lead, 20-0.
It was the tale of the triplets most of the night for the Scotties as Strock, Jones and Krouskoupf single-handedly picked apart the Panther defense. Strock completed 13-of-26 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown. He also had 17 carries for 68 yards and another score. Jones ran for 108 yards and two scores in barely more than a half for the Scotties. He had 11 carries, 7 of which were in the first half. Jones sat most of the second half due to a lingering shoulder injury that was tweaked in the first. Krouskoupf added another nine receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown.
At the start of the second half, Strock’s 36-yard pass to Hunter Mohler set up a Kris Michael field goal, but soon after Krouskoupf intercepted Garber setting a nice tone for the second half. After Strock completed two passes to Krouspkoupf and Michael to move up the field, he punched it in three yards to put the Scotties up 29-0.
The Panthers were held to only 225 total yards compared to the Scotties 409, but after struggling most of the game they finally found the end zone on Drew McArtor’s 1-yard touchdown run and Garber’s 11-yard touchdown pass to fullback Hunter Hartshorn
The Scotties will return home next week to take on Maysville.
