Tri-Valley Continues MVL Domination

Tri-Valley Scotties passed their way to victory Thursday night, shutting out the the John Glenn Little Muskies, 32-0.
Both teams had a quiet start trading possessions throughout the first quarter, but Tri-Valley got the ball rolling when Austin Jones had a combined 40 yards on five carries to put the Scotties on the board at the beginning of the second, 7-0.
John Glenn tried to match the Scotties in their next possession, but a Nathan Strock interception followed soon after.
After a missed field goal following the interception, the Scotties gained back momentum later in the quarter. With just under three minutes left in the first half, Strock opened the drive with and 18-yard scamper up the middle. Jones followed suit with a 22-yard run, capped by a Devin Moran 28-yard pass from Strock to put them at the John Glenn 19-yard line. Two plays later, Strock hit Moran again for a 5-yard touchdown pass to complete the drive and advance their lead to 13-0 after the missed PAT.
The Scotties had 225 total passing yards compared to the Little Muskies 13. Jones ran for 158 yards and a touchdown in the second half and finished with a total of 244 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Strock was 12-of-22 for 214 yards and two touchdowns as well. Blake Atkins led the Little Muskies with 12 carries for 79 yards.
Along with Tri-Valley’s offense, their defense dominated just as well, holding John Glenn to only 60 yards and one first down in the second half and 150 total yards for the game.
Jones set up the next Tri-Valley score in the third taking it 27 yards up the side. Strock followed with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Mohler to put the Scotties up 19-0.
John Glenn could not find an answer to the Scotties powerful offense and defense. The Scotties were able to seal the deal in the fourth when Jones scored from just eight yards out. Late in the game, Daniel Scott added another touchdown.
Next week, Tri-Valley (8-0, 6-0 MVL) stays at home to take on Sheridan and John Glenn (5-3, 4-3 MVL) heads to New Philadelphia to take on the Quakers.
