W.Va. Reaches Voter Registration Deadline
< < Back to wva-reaches-voter-registration-deadlineThe deadline has arrived for eligible West Virginians to make sure they can vote this year.
New voters had to register by Tuesday to cast ballots in the Nov. 6 general election.
In-person registration ended Tuesday, while mailed applications had to be postmarked that date.
Voters can check their registration through the Secretary of State's website, www.sos.wv.gov , and look up their polling place.
Voting is already under way in West Virginia. Just over 3,600 of the state's 1.2 million registered voters returned absentee ballots by Tuesday.
Republicans cast a greater portion of those ballots than their share of the state's voter rolls. Democrats continue to outnumber GOP voters by close to 2-1.
Early in-person voting begins Oct. 24 and lasts until Nov. 3. That early voting period includes two Saturdays.
