‘Cats Win Streak Extends to Ten

The Ohio Bobcats extended their winning streak to 10 as they defeated the Miami Rehawks in four sets (25-21, 15-25, 25-15, 25-22).

The Bobcats dominated early in the first set by going on a 7-0 run. Kelly Lamberti led this run as the server. Although it looked like Ohio was going cruise to easy set win, the Redhawks made a comeback bringing Ohio’s lead to two at 21-19. Despite this furious comeback Miami, the Bobcats would win the set 25-21 on a set winning kill by Faith Robins.

“I was happy to be a offensive option and help the team out,” Faith Robins said.

In the second set, it went back and forth between Miami and Ohio leading to a 9-8 Miami lead. But after this point, the Bobcats just could not get it going. The Redhawks proceeded to expand their lead as the score went to a 14-10 Miami lead. But the Redhawks did not look back and finished the set on an 11-5 run and won the set 25-15.

“We obviously needed to play better,” said Coach Ryan Theis.

The third set was the opposite of the second set and the Bobcats got back on track. The Bobcats led Miami 8-6 early in the set. Ohio did not look back on that lead. Ohio’s lead did not go below three for the rest of the set as the Bobcats would go on to win the set 25-15.

The Bobcats looked as if they would cruise to an easy fourth set victory, but that would not be the case. Ohio led by four throughout the set. But Miami was not going down easy, as they would slowly make a comeback and bring Ohio’s lead to only two at 24-22. But Serena Warner and Faith Robins were not going to let the Redhawks win as they ended their hopes to win the set and the match 25-22.

Faith Robins came up big offensively converting 43% of her offensive attacks and Meredith Ashy came up big on the defensive end leading the team with 25 digs.

“Tonight we were all focused on Miami, but tomorrow we are going to come out focused on Bowling Green,” Robins said.

The Bobcats will look to extend their winning streak tomorrow night as they take on the Bowling Green Falcons at 7 o’clock at the Convocation Center.

“It will be a game for first place but we still have five games left,” said Coach Theis.
