Southeast OH Counties Report Highest Deer-Gun Season Kills

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Division of Wildlife, the top three counties with the most deer checked were Coshocton County with 3,119, Muskingum County with 2,927 and Tuscarawas County with 2,860 deers checked.
Guernsey, Harrison, Licking, Washington, Belmont and Carroll counties were also among the top ten.
ODNR officials say a total of 86,964 white-tailed deer were harvested between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2, which marked a 3.7 percent decrease from the 2011 totals.
Hunters still have one more chance to partake in deer-gun hunting on Dec. 15 and Dec. 16, and archery season remains open through Feb. 3, 2013. The statewide deer muzzloader season is Jan. 5 to Jan 8, 2013.
