City Council Makes Payments On Truck
< < Back to city-council-makes-payments-truckAthens City Council is taking additional steps to pay off the city's newest fire truck.
On Monday, Council approved a plan to issue up to $300,000 in bonds to pay off the remaining portion of the $1.2 million price tag for the vehicle.
The new truck, purchased last year, was recently used during a fire in the Research and Technology building on Ohio University's campus.
OU and the city agreed to share the cost of buying the new truck. The university is paying $50,000 a year for the next five years.
Council Member Steve Patterson said the collaboration with the university benefits the city.
