Redistricting Map To Be Presented Today
< < Back to redistricting-map-be-presented-todayThe public soon gets its first glimpse of a map of Ohio's new congressional districts, lines that will remain in place for the next decade.
An Ohio House panel is expected to receive the map designed by ruling Republicans at a hearing Tuesday. Sources have told The Associated Press the map shrinks the state's congressional
landscape by two districts by combining two Republican districts in southern Ohio and squeezing Democratic districts in the state's urban northeast corner.
The map could see a House floor vote by the end of the week.
Meanwhile, a coalition of voter advocacy groups has announced the winners of an online redistricting competition in advance of the meeting.
The most competitive Ohio map was submitted by Mike Fortner, a state representative in Illinois.
