The Rebirth Of Journalism: A Talk With Brett Pulley

Pulley has had a long and prosperous career in the field of journalism – some positions held throughout Pulley’s career include Business and Financial Journalist at Bloomberg News, Senior Editor at Forbes Magazine, President & C.E.O. at NewYork.com, National Correspondent at The New York Times, and Staff Reporter at The Wall Street Journal.
Hodson and Pulley discuss the current state of flux within the field of journalism; however, Hodson and Pulley jointly agree that this is not the death of journalism, but the rebirth.
“The pace at which change has taken place in the last few years is absolutely astounding… But the thing about that is that right now we’re in a period of extraordinary fascination with the gadgets and with the latest platform… But at the end of the day the fundamentals, are the fundamentals, are the fundamentals. It’s still about content, and while it may not be about quality content today, ultimately, quality will rule the day. And premium content will matter”, says Pulley.
Hodson and Pulley also discuss the challenges of teaching journalism in todays modern landscape and the power of globalized mass communication, among other topics.
