Trimble Slips Late Against Belpre
< < Back to trimble-slips-late-against-belpreAfter an unpromising first half, the Belpre Golden Eagles were able to overcome the fast-paced Trimble Tomcats in a thrilling fourth quarter comeback, 49-45.
Led by senior Dakota Hoffman with a game-high 26 points, the Golden Eagles were able to erase an 11 point half-time deficit.
After scoring just 12 points in the first two quarters of play, the Golden Eagles were able to end the game on 37-22 scoring run. Rebounds played a big role for the Golden Eagles as they were able to out-rebound the Tomcats 22-to-15. The Golden Eagles’ top rebounder was Bryce Pittenger with eight.
In the Tomcats' losing effort, junior Konner Standley scored 13 points while junior Jacob Koons dished in 12. With their leading rebounder, senior Cody Bragg, sitting out yet another game, the Tomcats struggled to find senior leadership with just one senior on the floor as opposed to Belpre’s six.
Trimble falls to 8-9 on the season while Belpre improves to 7-7. Trimble takes a week off as they prepare for a home battle against South Gallia on Jan. 29. Belpre will faceoff at Southern on Jan. 25.
