Welcome Home
After a four-game MAC road trip, the Bobcats returned to the Convo for their first home game in 21 days. The game drew a crowd of 10,846, attracting visitors for Ohio University’s annual Sibs' Weekend.
Cooper and Keely
Ohio’s high-low senior combo combined for the Bobcats’ first seven points, as Cooper found Keely on two pick-and-roll buckets and finished a fast-break layup in the game’s opening minutes. Cooper finished the first half with 7 points and four assists; Keely added 6 points and six boards.
Reliable Reserves
Midway through the first half, Him Christian turned to his second unit to give Ohio a spark. The reserves answered his request, as Stevie Taylor, Ivo Baltic, Ricardo Johnson, Travis Wilkins and Jon Smith combined for 16 first-half points. Taylor led the charge with one and-one layup, two assists and three nifty dribble moves in a stretch of four minutes on the floor.
Hangin’ Around
Bowling Green had an answer for every Ohio surge for the first part of the half. While the Falcons never led, they never fell behind by more than 7 points. Guard Jordon Crawford scored 10 points and found teammates on two alley-oops to keep Bowling Green within striking distance.
On the Run
Ohio began the second half on an 13-3 run and took conrol of the game for good. A pair of buckets by Keely sandwiched around two field goals by T.J. Hall put an exclamation point on the run and gave Ohio its biggest lead (11 points) to that point in the game. Speaking of T.J. Hall…
Hall's Heroics
In his second career start, Hall contributed 12 points and four steals in 23 minutes. Hall was once again plagued by foul trouble for much of the first half, but scored 10 points in the second frame to give the Bobcats a lift.
MAC Standing
With the win Saturday, Ohio advances to 8-1 in the MAC. The Bobcats remain one spot behind Akron (10-0 MAC) in the conference standings, after the Zips survived a scare at Miami and pulled out a 4-point victory. Ohio travels to Central Michigan (2-7 MAC) Wednesday while Akron travels to Eastern Michigan (4-4 MAC) on the same day.
