Athens Police Offering Reward For Crime Information
< < Back to athens-police-offering-reward-crime-informationThe Athens Police Department is asking for information on recent crimes in the city – and it could mean money in your pocket.
The first occurred January 31 around 9:20am, where an OU graduate student was robbed by an armed man near the Station St. Apartments.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6'1", between 30 and 35-years-old, wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and white tennis shoes, and had an odor.
The second incident happened on February 19 near Lincoln Hall on Ohio University's campus around 7:00 p.m. where a female was confronted by a man weilding a knife.
The man demanded money, but the victim did not cooperate and ran away unharmed without handing over money.
Two other unsolved crimes occured on February 23: one at Tiffin Hall and the other between Courtside Pizza and Cornwell Jewelers.
Shortly after 2:00am, a confrontation escalated among a few male suspects.
One of the suspects stabbed the another man several times before running toward Carpenter St.
The suspect is described as a 5'10" white male in his early twenties, blonde/brown hair, weighing between 150 and 170 lbs., and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
Between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., on February 23, an unknown person set several small fires at Tiffin Hall, a residence hall on campus.
The suspect started the fires by lighting papers hanging on students' doors and causing minor damage.
A $2,000 reward is being offered to anyone providing information leading to an arrest and/or indictment.
