The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is hosting an evening celebrating and inspiring community building with New York Times columnist and best-selling author David Brooks.

All are invited to attend Brooks’ keynote presentation beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Logan High School Auditorium in Logan, Ohio.

Brooks joined The New York Times as an opinion columnist in 2003 and serves as a commentator on “PBS NewsHour,” NPR’s “All Things Considered” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He is the author of three best-selling books, The Social Animal, The Road to Character and The Second Mountain, as well as other books covering contemporary culture and the social sciences.

During his presentation, Brooks will discuss The Second Mountain and share insights on building a meaningful life through service to community.

“The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio has a long history of bringing people together to solve problems and strengthen communities throughout the region,” said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO president and CEO. “This event is a continuation of our community-building work and an opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to use their ‘second mountain’ to build a bright future for Appalachian Ohio and communities throughout our state.”

This event is free and open to the public and the media. Registration is required by Thursday, Oct. 5, and can be made at bit.ly/DavidBrooksFAO, by emailing RSVP@ffao.org or by calling 740.753.1111.
