Join Appalachian Understories, United Campus Ministry Center, and Ohio University’s Pride Center for a walking tour of uptown Athens and Ohio University exploring the history of the LGBTQ+ community in Southeast Ohio. Lead tour guide and former LGBT Center Director, Mickey J Hart, along with others will share stories of the work many advocates have done to improve the civil rights of the LGBTQ+ community in Athens. Participants are invited to share their stories and perspectives throughout the event.

This tour will be a 1.5-mile walk on paved roads and sidewalks around uptown Athens and campus will include some small hills. The tour begins at United Campus Ministry Center (18 N. College Street), makes its way to the Pride Center, and ends at O’Betty’s Red Hots.
