Athens County Elder Abuse Awareness Day

June 15, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

The global population of people aged 60 years and older will more than double, from 542 million in 1995 to about 1.2 billion in 2025. Around 4 to 6% of elderly people have experienced some form of maltreatment at home. Elder maltreatment can lead to serious physical injuries and long-term psychological consequences.  Elder abuse is a global social issue which affects the health and human rights of millions of older persons around the world, and an issue which deserves our attention.

Come join the conversation at the Athens County  Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Thursday, June 15, 10am at the Athens Recreation Center.  Guest speaker will be Joan Stroh, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, she will speak about “Fraud Awareness for Seniors.”   Light refreshments will be served.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

For more information, contact Athens County Department of Job and Family Services, (740) 797-2523.
